Lola’s Story
Lola Pinard is a sweet 6-year-old girl from Westland, Michigan, who was diagnosed with kidney disease at age 2. For the last 4 years, the family has been traveling to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital every 3 months for doctor visits. In October 2018, Lola started peritoneal dialysis, and began going once a month for treatment. It was known that she had some heart
complications due to end stage renal disease. In April of 2019, it was discovered that she was in heart failure and was admitted to the CICU. While there, Lola received hemodialysis every day along with her IV medications. The hope is that this treatment helps her to regain heart function and avoid a heart transplant on top of her already necessary kidney transplant.
t the end of May, the family was fortunate to receive a generous donation of a private aircraft and was able to transfer Lola to the University of Michigan hospital, allowing her to be closer to family to continue her treatment.
